Job Overview
As a Pharmacist at Dis-Chem Musgrave, you will be responsible for full pharmaceutical care services, ensuring safe, effective, and compliant dispensing of medication.
You will also play a key role in supervising pharmacy assistants, ensuring accuracy in prescriptions, and maintaining high standards of patient care.
Minimum Requirements
To qualify, applicants must have:
- Grade 12 / Matric
- BPharm degree or equivalent qualification
- Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC)
- 2–3 years pharmacy experience
- 2–3 years retail pharmacy exposure (including internship or student experience)
- Computer literacy (MS Office)
Key Responsibilities
Pharmaceutical Care
- Evaluate patient medication needs for safety and effectiveness
- Dispense prescription and scheduled medicines
- Provide guidance on proper medicine usage
- Monitor patient compliance and follow-up care
Clinical & Professional Duties
- Identify drug interactions and dosing issues
- Provide pharmacist-initiated therapy when required
- Refer patients to healthcare services when needed
- Promote public health awareness
Prescription & Dispensing Control
- Verify and sign off prescriptions prepared by assistants
- Ensure accurate labeling, packing, and dispensing
- Manage controlled medicine processes (chronic, HIV, oncology)
- Correct rejected medical aid claims and errors
Stock & Operations Management
- Monitor stock levels and expiry dates
- Assist with stock control and bi-annual stock takes
- Maintain safe storage and handling of medicines
- Ensure compliance with SOPs and health regulations
Customer Service & Administration
- Assist patients at dispensary and front-shop
- Explain medical aid costs and procedures
- Maintain patient profiles and system records
- Ensure accurate script capturing and updates
