Job Purpose
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is looking for a qualified Post Basic Pharmacist Assistant to join its Randfontein store. The successful candidate will provide pharmaceutical support under the supervision of a registered pharmacist and ensure patients receive safe, accurate, and professional medicine-related services.
Key Responsibilities
Pharmaceutical Services
- Assist with the sale of Schedule 1 and Schedule 2 medicines.
- Prepare, label, and dispense medication according to prescriptions.
- Repackage and compound non-sterile medicines.
- Ensure all medicines are checked and approved by a pharmacist.
Prescription Processing
- Capture prescription details accurately on the system.
- Verify patient information.
- Follow up on rejected medical aid claims.
- Process chronic, HIV, AIDS, and oncology medication authorizations.
Customer Service
- Counsel patients on the correct use of medication.
- Explain medical aid costs.
- Promote general health and wellness.
Stock Control
- Receive and manage dispensary stock using FEFO principles.
- Report stock shortages and discrepancies.
- Assist with bi-annual stock takes.
Compliance
- Maintain SAPC and Medicines Act compliance.
- Exercise control over stock, cash, and assets.
Minimum Requirements
Essential Qualifications
- Grade 12 / Matric.
- Basic Pharmacist Assistance qualification.
- Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).
- Experience using Unisolv.
- Computer literacy (MS Office).
- Strong English and second-language communication skills.
Advantageous
- Knowledge of SAP and E-Scripting.
- Retail/FMCG experience.
- Knowledge of family planning and complementary medicine.
- Third additional language.
