Key Responsibilities of a Parts Salesperson

The Parts Salesperson plays a crucial role in ensuring smooth sales operations and customer satisfaction. Responsibilities include:

Stock Control and Availability

  • Order stock in line with branch procedures to ensure stable availability of parts.

  • Conduct regular stock counts and full stocktaking processes.

  • Manage stock rotation, ensuring that older stock is used before new stock to minimize losses.

  • Keep all stock in a safe and secure condition.

Sales and Customer Service

  • Provide over-the-counter sales to walk-in clients.

  • Process sales and returns in accordance with company procedures.

  • Build and maintain professional relationships with both internal and external customers.

  • Resolve customer queries and complaints quickly and effectively.

  • Offer product knowledge and guidance to customers to ensure they select the correct parts.

Financial Administration

  • Handle accurate cash balancing at the end of each day.

  • Collect payments via cash, credit cards, or other approved methods.

  • Ensure payments of accounts are timeously processed in line with company policy.

Compliance and Safety

  • Adhere to risk and safety legislation requirements.

  • Ensure that workplace health and safety standards are maintained at all times.


Minimum Requirements

Education

  • Grade 12 (Matric).

Work Experience

  • Minimum of 1 year in sales and administration.

  • Prior parts sales experience is essential.

Technical Competencies

  • Strong product knowledge of parts and related items.

  • Computer literacy, particularly MS Office applications.

  • Excellent customer service skills.

  • Effective communication skills (written and verbal).

  • Valid driver’s licence.
