Position Overview

ADvTECH is seeking a dedicated Teacher Assistant to support learning in the pre-primary phase. This role focuses on creating a nurturing, engaging, and stimulating learning environment that prepares young learners for formal schooling.

The successful candidate will assist in delivering innovative, child-centered education while supporting the emotional, physical, and social development of learners.


Key Responsibilities

Academic Delivery

  • Assist in implementing engaging and age-appropriate learning activities
  • Support lesson preparation using creative teaching strategies and tools
  • Help maintain a stimulating and organized classroom environment
  • Provide individualized support to learners when required
  • Collaborate with educators and staff to enhance teaching outcomes

Academic Assessment & Reporting

  • Assist in monitoring and recording learner progress
  • Support assessment processes and feedback preparation
  • Help track academic, social, and emotional development of learners

Student Behaviour Management

  • Promote positive behavior and classroom discipline
  • Support learners’ emotional and social well-being
  • Assist in identifying and addressing learning barriers

School Brand Ambassadorship

  • Represent the school professionally at all times
  • Participate in school events, extra murals, and activities
  • Support marketing initiatives such as open days

Administration

  • Assist with classroom organization and resource management
  • Support planning for excursions and school activities
  • Attend staff and planning meetings

Health & Safety

  • Supervise learners during activities and playtime
  • Ensure a safe and secure classroom environment
  • Provide basic first aid where required

Minimum Requirements

  • Post Matric Certificate (NQF Level 5) in Early Childhood Development (ECD)
  • OR Degree (NQF Level 6) in ECD or B.Ed (Foundation Phase)
  • PGCE (for relevant degrees such as Psychology)
  • Valid SACE Certificate
  • Police Clearance

Minimum Experience

  • 2–5 years teaching experience
  • OR 1-year teaching internship (at Principal’s discretion)
