About the Role

The Light Duty Drivers at Parts Incorporated Africa play a frontline operational role in ensuring that automotive spare parts, components, and retail inventory are safely transported and delivered to client shops, trade accounts, and distribution nodes across Gqeberha and surrounding Eastern Cape routes.
This role goes far beyond basic driving; it demands high accountability, attention to detail, and disciplined administrative execution. Drivers must inspect their vehicles before and after every trip, verify parcel quantities alongside dispatch supervisors prior to loading, strictly follow designated route schedules, enforce Proof of Delivery (POD) signatures, and maintain clear records of all Return for Credit (RFC) collections.

Key Responsibilities of a Light Duty Driver

Vehicle Inspection & Fleet Maintenance
  • Perform pre-departure and post-return vehicle inspections daily to ensure roadworthiness, safety, and operational readiness.
  • Submit weekly vehicle inspection checklists to the Dispatch Supervisor every Monday for sign-off prior to receiving new route sheets.
  • Immediately report mechanical faults, body damage, or fluid leaks to the Dispatch Supervisor before the vehicle leaves the depot premises.
  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness (interior and exterior) and ensure routine vehicle checks (oil, water, tire pressure) are conducted regularly.
Parcel Verification & Route Delivery Execution
  • Verify parcel counts, customer invoices, and delivery manifests alongside the Dispatch Supervisor prior to vehicle loading, adhering strictly to New Dispatch Loading Procedures.
  • Safely transport automotive parts and parcels to client destinations according to designated route schedules and trip sheets.
  • Strictly follow company policy regarding stock movement: no unauthorized stock transfers between customer shops are permitted.
Proof of Delivery (POD) & Administrative Procedures
  • Ensure strict customer compliance with Proof of Delivery (POD) sign-off procedures upon arrival at every client location.
  • Manage and process Return for Credit (RFC) collection slips and returned stock strictly in line with company RFC procedures.
  • Hand in all trip sheets, delivery notes, and collection slips to the POD Clerk daily, ensuring all documents assigned to your name are fully completed.
  • Maintain personal accountability for outstanding trip sheets and POD queries to avoid liability for lost documentation or missing stock.
Customer Service & Operational Compliance
  • Represent Motus Corporation professionally when interacting with trade clients, workshop managers, and retail store owners.
  • Promptly report delivery delays, route roadblocks, customer disputes, or POD discrepancies to the Dispatch Supervisor.
  • Adhere strictly to road safety regulations, traffic laws, and internal Motus health and safety policies.
