We are currently seeking a skilled Section Manager Planning to join our team at Kriel Colliery in Emalahleni, Mpumalanga. This role is crucial in translating the annual Life of Mine plan into a detailed budget and overseeing the execution of mining activities.
Role Overview:
The Section Manager Planning will manage and execute the 2-year operational budget, oversee mine planning activities, and ensure adherence to legal, safety, and group standards. Key responsibilities include developing and managing the mine planning budget, providing technical expertise, and optimizing coal reserves.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage the Mine Planning section
- Develop and manage the financial budget for the Mine Planning section
- Ensure compliance with legal requirements, group standards, and policies
- Assist with annual Life of Mine Planning and budget integration
- Provide technical expertise to production teams
- Apply best practices and assess risks for the Life of Mine Plan
- Control costs for project mine planning tasks
Requirements:
- B Eng. / BSc / BTech in Mining Engineering or relevant mining-related tertiary qualification
- Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency (MMC) preferred
- Minimum 8 years’ experience in mining, including 2 years as Assistant Pit Superintendent or Mining Activity Engineer
- In-depth knowledge of mining operations, legislation, and planning software
- Understanding of SHE standards and policies
- Valid driver’s license and Certificate of Fitness
Advantageous:
- Underground coal mining production experience
- Advanced report writing skills
- Registration with a relevant mining industry professional association
- Knowledge of Seriti’s operational codes and procedures
