Role Overview

BKB Ltd is seeking a Livestock Commission Agent to join their Livestock & Properties Division in Colesberg & Hanover. The successful candidate will be responsible for the marketing and sales of livestock, building strong relationships with clients, and handling various auction-related tasks. The role will also involve procurement, logistical coordination, and ensuring a professional and positive image for the company.


Key Responsibilities

  • Procurement and Marketing of Livestock: Manage procurement of livestock for auctions and out-of-hand transactions.
  • Sales: Promote and sell livestock effectively to increase market share, revenue, and profitability.
  • Classing of Livestock: Evaluate and classify livestock during the auction process.
  • Logistics and Administration: Coordinate logistics and ensure smooth administrative processes for auctions.
  • Client Relationships: Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with clients.
  • Producer Information: Gather necessary producer details to plan and facilitate marketing efforts effectively.
  • Customer Service: Provide exceptional service to clients, maintaining the company’s professional image.
  • Auction Support: Assist colleagues at auctions and ensure efficient handling of all related tasks.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Education: Agricultural Diploma/Degree.
  • Experience: At least 3 years of marketing experience, preferably within the livestock industry.
  • Skills:
    • Strong sales, negotiation, and communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently with excellent interpersonal skills.
    • Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    • Good time management and decision-making skills.
    • Strong computer literacy.
    • Bilingual in Afrikaans and English.
