Primary Purpose of the Job

The Operator is responsible for attending to cell requirements and performing spot and CO2 welding functions according to company and customer specifications.

Key Performance Areas:

• Feed and remove parts from press, ensuring quality parts are produced
• Routinely check and clean weld tips as per work instructions
• Ensure parts are correctly loaded and clamped
• Report non-conformances to team leaders
• Remove scrap parts and off-cuts during production
• Inspect parts for defects visually
• Assist with tool changes
• Comply with safety, health, and environmental work instructions, including lock-out procedures
• Maintain a clean working environment and production equipment
• Actively participate in the departmental M2S system and autonomous maintenance

Knowledge and Skills Required:

• Spot welding
• Quality concepts
• Understanding of tools and ties
• Analytical thinking
• Communication and planning skills
• Problem-solving skills
• Ability to identify and describe problems

Minimum Requirements:

• Grade 12 or equivalent
• Welding Certificate
• Minimum 1 year of spot welding experience
• At least 3 years of welding experience in an automotive environment
• Minimum 1 year of experience in assembly jigs
