About the Opportunity
A well-established accounting and advisory services firm in Bryanston is looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Accountant with a strong background in tax compliance and advisory services for both individuals and entities. Key Details of the Position

Work Hours: Full-time (8 hours per day)

Core Hours: 09:00 – 15:00 (with flexibility outside core hours)

Hybrid Model: Initial training and orientation will be office-based for the first few months. Afterward, you may work remotely on Wednesdays.

Main Responsibilities
As the appointed Accountant, you will manage a full spectrum of accounting, tax, payroll, and advisory services for your assigned clients. This includes but is not limited to:
Tax Compliance & Advisory

Prepare and submit provisional and annual income tax returns for individuals, trusts, and companies.

Manage VAT submissions and ensure compliance with SARS regulations.

Administer PAYE, UIF, and SDL submissions via SARS eFiling.

Process and reconcile EMP201 and EMP501 returns, including bi-annual submissions to SARS.

Advise clients on tax planning strategies to minimise liabilities while staying compliant with South African tax laws.
Payroll Management

Oversee payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and compliance with tax and labour laws.

Issue IRP5 certificates and handle payroll tax reconciliations.

Ensure all payroll-related statutory submissions are completed accurately and on time.
SARS Query Resolution

Respond to and resolve SARS queries and audits independently.

Prepare and submit supporting documentation when required.

Maintain clear and professional communication with SARS on behalf of clients.
Accounting & Reporting

Deliver monthly management accounts using Xero, QuickBooks Online, or Sage.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date tax and financial records for each client.

Prepare financial reports and provide insights to support client decision-making.
Client Relationship Management

Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with clients through proactive communication and service excellence.

Act as a trusted financial advisor, providing both compliance support and strategic business advice.
Requirements & Qualifications
To be considered for this position, you should meet the following criteria:

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent (essential)

Minimum of 15 years’ experience in accounting, with a strong focus on tax compliance and advisory

In-depth knowledge of SARS eFiling and compliance processes for individuals, companies, and trusts

Proven track record in independently managing SARS queries and audits

Proficiency in Xero, QuickBooks Online, or Sage (experience in at least one is required)

SAIPA or SAICA certification is advantageous, but not mandatory

Exceptional attention to detail and high accuracy levels

Ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines effectively

Strong communication skills and professional presentation

Tech-savvy and proactive in adopting new accounting and compliance tools
