Position Overview

The Cook will be responsible for the preparation of food for daily kitchen production, ensuring high-quality meals are delivered consistently and in line with food safety standards. This role is ideal for an experienced cook with a strong customer service mindset and the ability to perform in a fast-paced contract catering environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare food for daily kitchen production according to menu requirements
  • Ensure all food is prepared and presented to quality and hygiene standards
  • Maintain compliance with food safety and health regulations
  • Support smooth kitchen operations during service periods
  • Cater for special dietary requirements where applicable
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of workstations
  • Contribute positively to teamwork and kitchen collaboration
  • Deliver a consistent and professional food service experience

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Cook in a contract catering environment (Essential)
  • Matric / Grade 12 (Essential)
  • Proven customer service experience (Essential)
  • Professional Cookery Certificate (Advantageous)
  • Experience working in a hotel or hospitality environment (Advantageous)

Knowledge, Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of food safety standards and compliance
  • Ability to prepare meals for special diets
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure in a high-volume kitchen
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
  • Attention to detail and consistency in food preparation
