Position Overview

The Kitchen Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the smooth operation of kitchen production, ensuring consistency across all menu items, maintaining food quality standards, and supporting inventory management. This role plays a key part in controlling food costs, minimising waste, and supporting the Catering Manager in day-to-day kitchen operations.

This opportunity is ideal for an experienced culinary professional with strong leadership skills and hands-on kitchen management experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily kitchen production operations to ensure efficiency and quality
  • Maintain menu consistency across all food items
  • Assist with inventory monitoring, stock control, ordering, and receiving
  • Ensure correct portion control, preparation, and storage methods to minimise waste
  • Deliver excellent food quality and service standards
  • Assist in all food production areas, including basic food preparation according to menu cycles
  • Complete and maintain kitchen documentation, including wastage sheets, cleaning records, and production reports
  • Conduct and assist with regular stock takes
  • Monitor and maintain food temperature records, reporting any variances
  • Analyse and manage in-unit food costs effectively
  • Record, monitor, and minimise all food wastage
  • Support, train, coach, and develop kitchen staff
  • Assist colleagues with additional duties as required to support operations

Minimum Requirements

  • Matric / Grade 12 (Essential)
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Food & Beverage Services or Culinary Arts (Compulsory)
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in kitchen management
  • Minimum 2 years’ cooking experience
  • Minimum 2 years’ supervisory experience
  • Computer literacy (essential)
  • Experience with stock control, ordering, and receiving
  • WorkSmart system knowledge (essential)
