The Three Rivers store in Vanderbijlpark is currently seeking a dedicated and energetic Merchandiser to join its Retail team.
Position Overview
The Merchandiser will be responsible for ensuring that Dis-Chem merchandising standards are properly executed and maintained. The role focuses on stock replenishment, shelf presentation, rotation of products, and delivering excellent customer service on the shop floor.
This position is ideal for candidates looking to grow their retail career within a structured and professional retail environment.
Minimum Requirements
Essential
- Grade 12 / Matric
- Up to 6 months’ retail experience
- Computer literate (MS Office)
- Willing and able to work retail hours
Advantageous
- At least 1 year retail experience
Key Responsibilities
Stock Management & Merchandising
- Restock merchandise to maximise sales opportunities
- Ensure delivered stock or stock pulled from the storeroom is packed correctly and timeously
- Ensure products have not reached their sell-by date
- Maintain full product range availability on shelves
- Rotate stock regularly on a FIFO (First-In, First-Out) basis
- Report low stock levels, out-of-stock items, damaged or expired stock
- Assist with stock counting and general stocktaking
- Adhere to store layout plans and approved planograms
- Ensure boxes are flattened and disposed of correctly after unpacking
- Keep shelves neatly presented with correct labels and pricing
- Report price discrepancies to management
- Maintain merchandising displays and ensure they are fully stocked and faced up
- Take responsibility for designated stock in the storeroom and shop floor
Customer Service
- Provide friendly, helpful, and courteous assistance to customers
- Follow up on out-of-stock queries using the customer service out-of-stock list
- Resolve customer stock queries efficiently
- Stay informed about new and current products
- Maintain professional appearance with correct uniform and badge
Operational Support
- Assist with loading and off-loading of stock
- Clearly mark items without barcodes
- Assist with back shopping
- Support training of new staff
- Minimise losses by handling merchandise carefully
- Report suspicious behaviour from staff or customers
- Adhere to company policies, SOPs, and Health & Safety regulations
