Position Overview

Motus Autoworx is currently recruiting a Body Shop Spray Painter to join the team at the Cape Town Airport branch in the Western Cape.

The primary purpose of this role is to manage and control all aspects of the paint shop operations, ensuring high-quality vehicle paintwork while maintaining efficient throughput and cost control.

The successful candidate will be responsible for vehicle spray painting, colour matching, paint shop quality control, equipment maintenance, and compliance with safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

Paint Shop Operations

  • Manage and control the overall operations of the paint shop.
  • Ensure efficient throughput while maintaining high quality standards.
  • Support the branch in achieving financial and service performance targets.

Vehicle Spray Painting

  • Spray vehicles and automotive parts to achieve a perfect colour finish.
  • Mix paint colours accurately to achieve 100% colour matching, considering light variations.
  • Prevent overspray and ensure professional paint application standards.

Quality Control

  • Take full responsibility for the quality of paintwork produced.
  • Develop and implement quality control processes during the painting process.
  • Perform final quality checks before vehicles are moved to the next repair stage.
  • Inspect and clean any overspray from the vehicle.

Preparation & Repair Oversight

  • Check and monitor the output of the vehicle preparation team.
  • Ensure proper flatting and surface preparation before painting begins.
  • Verify that repair work meets required standards before painting.

Equipment & Facility Management

  • Monitor the use of paint shop equipment and ensure proper maintenance.
  • Maintain paint shop facilities in safe and efficient working condition.
  • Ensure cost-efficient use of materials and resources.

Health & Safety Compliance

  • Take responsibility for health and safety compliance within the paint shop.
  • Ensure all operations meet safety standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Train paint shop staff on emergency procedures and safety protocols.

Minimum Requirements

Education

  • Grade 12 / Matric (Required)

Technical Qualifications

  • Technical qualification in colour matching or spray painting
  • B A Journeyman / Journeyman certification (Advantageous)

Experience

  • Valid Code 8 driver’s license (minimum 2 years old, unendorsed)
