Position Overview
The E-Commerce Specialist role focuses on managing and growing an assigned portfolio of e-commerce merchants. Unlike traditional account management roles, this position carries full commercial accountability for revenue growth, merchant retention, and product adoption.
The successful candidate will work closely with merchants to optimize their use of Lesaka’s fintech ecosystem, increase product penetration, and identify new revenue opportunities through cross-selling and upselling initiatives.
This position is ideal for professionals experienced in account management, customer success, fintech sales, or digital commerce strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Revenue Growth & Merchant Expansion
- Analyse merchant performance and product usage to identify revenue opportunities
- Drive revenue growth through cross-selling and upselling initiatives
- Execute targeted outbound engagement campaigns via phone, email, and messaging platforms
- Position bundled fintech and payment solutions using consultative sales techniques
- Maintain and manage a disciplined opportunity pipeline within CRM systems
Merchant Retention & Churn Management
- Monitor merchant transaction trends and performance indicators
- Identify early warning signs of potential churn
- Implement retention and reactivation strategies to protect revenue
- Collaborate with Support and Operations teams to resolve service issues affecting merchants
Relationship Ownership
- Serve as the primary commercial contact for assigned merchants
- Conduct lifecycle engagement including activation, growth, and renewal discussions
- Educate merchants on platform capabilities and value-optimization opportunities
- Strengthen long-term partnerships through consistent engagement
Governance & Business Insights
- Maintain accurate CRM records and reporting discipline
- Analyse revenue trends and provide performance insights to management
- Monitor competitor activity and provide market intelligence
- Contribute insights that support product development and strategic decision-making

- Reduced merchant churn rates
- Increased multi-product adoption across the merchant portfolio
- High levels of merchant satisfaction and engagement
Minimum Requirements
Candidates applying for this position should meet the following criteria:
- 3–5 years’ experience in account management, customer success, or relationship management
- Proven track record of revenue growth, retention, and cross-selling success
- Experience in fintech, financial services, e-commerce, or merchant acquiring is advantageous
- Strong analytical ability and CRM system proficiency
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics or Salesforce CRM is beneficial
- Matric certificate required; tertiary qualification advantageous
- Willingness to travel occasionally for merchant engagement
