Position Overview
The Senior Accountant will be responsible for analyzing, reconciling, and maintaining accurate general ledger accounts, ensuring financial records are current and compliant. You will prepare monthly financial reports, balance sheets, income statements, VAT submissions, and participate in audits, while liaising with management and other departments to resolve discrepancies and streamline financial processes.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Financial Reporting
- Review source documents and record daily transactions
- Post transactions to appropriate general ledger accounts
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and maintain accurate records
- Prepare trial balances, balance sheets, income statements, and notes
- Conduct creditors and debtors reconciliations
- Prepare and submit VAT and other statutory returns
- Participate in annual audits
- Create monthly group consolidations and maintain backups of accounting data
Problem Solving & Coordination
- Research and resolve accounting discrepancies promptly
- Maintain regular communication with departments for transaction accuracy
- Report account reconciliation status to the Controller
- Assist accounting personnel and support management with financial insights
Administrative & Compliance Duties
- Ensure work area is organized, secure, and compliant
- Complete special projects as assigned
- Adhere to all accounting policies, standards, and procedures
Minimum Requirements
Education & Certification
- Accounting diploma, B.Comm, or equivalent degree
- Additional accounting or bookkeeping coursework preferred
Experience
- 3–5 years in a relevant accounting role, preferably within property management or related industries
Skills & Abilities
- Strong understanding of account reconciliation, general ledger, and financial reporting
- Excellent numerical, analytical, and organizational skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work cooperatively and assist colleagues
- Proficiency in PC, accounting software, and Microsoft Office
