Position Overview

The Shop Assistant will create a welcoming, inspirational, and personalised shopping experience for customers at the Gillwell Mall store. This role involves assisting clients, supporting sales targets, managing stock, implementing visual merchandising standards, and maintaining operational excellence across all areas of responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide a personalised and exceptional shopping experience to every customer
  • Assist customers with product selection, promotions, and loyalty card registration
  • Prepare for and participate in morning meetings and daily floor walks
  • Conduct cycle counts, stock takes, and report stock discrepancies
  • Ensure stock rotation, storage, and display adhere to FIFO and operational standards
  • Maintain store cleanliness, merchandising, and visual displays
  • Adhere to all Point of Sale, cash handling, and banking procedures
  • Implement monthly promotions and marketing initiatives, including displays and signage
  • Support in-store marketing campaigns and events such as Pop-Up Stores and Sidewalk Sales
  • Perform professional makeovers and record customer and product details as required
  • Contribute to training, induction, and knowledge transfer for new employees
  • Report breaches of policy or operational procedures to Store Supervisor or relevant managers

Minimum Requirements

  • Matric / Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Minimum 1 year of retail experience
  • Experience in beauty, fragrance, or skincare products is advantageous
  • Knowledge of Point of Sale systems and Microsoft Office (Excel and email) is advantageous
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment and adhere to deadlines
