As a Merchandiser in the Irrigation & Outdoor Department at Stonewood, you will be responsible for creating an inviting, visually appealing, and well-organized department. Your core focus is to execute the store’s “Block System” merchandising standards, ensure exact pricing and shelf-talker alignment, build eye-catching promotional feature displays, and maintain clear, hazard-free aisles for shoppers.
Key Performance Areas & Primary Responsibilities
1. Product Merchandising & Shelf Presentation

Neatly pack, categorize, and block-merchandise irrigation equipment, outdoor fittings, pipes, pumps, and garden supplies according to store planograms.

Apply the company’s “Block System” standards to maintain visual symmetry, product visibility, and customer accessibility.

Ensure all shelf-talkers are clean, updated, legible, and positioned precisely to the far left of each corresponding product line.

Verify that stock prices match electronic systems and shelf talkers continuously.
2. Visual Display & Promotional Setup

Develop and submit creative promotional and feature display concepts to department supervisors for approval.

Source display props, signage, and installation materials to construct fixed product displays that drive internal store advertising and sales.

Monitor product stock levels on the shop floor, ensuring high turnover lines are replenished timeously from reserve stock.
3. Stock Control & Inter-Branch Transfers

Verify incoming inter-branch stock transfers, matching page transfer numbers, dates, and branch origins accurately against physical items received.

Participate actively in routine and perpetual stocktaking exercises to track inventory control and minimize shrinkages.
4. Aisle Safety & Housekeeping

Maintain clean, uncluttered, and hazard-free shopping aisles, ensuring space beneath bottom shelves is cleared of loose goods.

Practice strict health, safety, and hygiene protocols across the department, ensuring customer-friendly walkway accessibility.

Educational Qualifications & Alternative Pathways

Education: Grade 12 / Matric Certificate or equivalent qualification (Essential).

Alternative Criteria: Applicants without a Matric Certificate will be considered if they hold a completed NQF Level 3 Stock Management or Retail Operations leadership qualification with at least 54 credits.
