About the Employer & Role
Brights Hardware operates large-scale retail warehouses and drive-thru building yards across the Western Cape, supplying timber, cement, sand, stone, steel, and heavy construction materials to trade contractors and DIY homeowners.
As a General Assistant in the Drive Thru Yard at Langebaan, you play a critical operational role in store throughput and customer satisfaction. Your primary focus is to welcome drive-thru customers, verify purchase invoices, safely load bulk building supplies into customer vehicles and delivery trucks, report stock breakages or shortages, and maintain high standards of yard housekeeping to prevent stock loss.
Key Performance Areas & Primary Responsibilities
1. Customer Dispatch & Vehicle Loading

Promptly, accurately, and safely load purchased hardware and bulk building materials onto customer vehicles, delivery trucks, and inter-branch transfer vehicles.

Provide friendly, efficient, and professional customer service to ensure a pleasant drive-thru experience.

Assist customers with basic product queries regarding yard materials, timber, cement, and aggregates.
2. Yard Stock Operations & Material Handling

Pull and assemble stock for inter-branch transfers and scheduled customer deliveries.

Ensure all yard stock, timber, and building products are neatly stacked, secured, and numerically counted.

Handle manual bagging of bulk sand, stone, and aggregates according to store standards.

Immediately report any stock shortages, damaged goods, or material breakages to yard supervisors.
3. Yard Maintenance, Safety & Stocktakes

Maintain excellent housekeeping by regularly sweeping drive-thru lanes, clearing debris, and removing safety hazards.

Participate actively in routine and perpetual stocktakes to maintain accurate inventory records.

Execute all additional general operational tasks as delegated by yard superiors.
Minimum Requirements – General Assistant (Drive Thru Yard)
Educational Qualifications & Experience

Education: Grade 12 / Matric Certificate or equivalent qualification (Essential).

Experience: Minimum of 1 year’s experience in a similar hardware yard, building material supply, warehouse, or retail loading role (Preferred).
