Purpose of the Role
The Cleaning Supervisor is responsible for supervising daily cleaning operations and ensuring the team adheres to contractual service level agreements (SLAs). You will manage cleaning schedules, enforce company standards, maintain health and safety regulations, and ensure your team represents Tsebo’s values through professionalism and consistency.
Key Responsibilities
✅ Operational Oversight and Quality Control

Supervise day-to-day cleaning operations in accordance with client SLAs and Tsebo’s quality programs.

Prepare and manage job cards/work schedules for each team member.

Conduct routine inspections to monitor service quality and performance.

Ensure cleaning methods comply with health and safety legislation, company protocols, and industry best practices.
✅ Team Supervision and Image Management

Enforce grooming standards and ensure all staff are properly attired with name badges.

Promote Tsebo’s brand by maintaining professional behavior and uniform standards among staff.

Build and sustain staff morale and motivation through open communication and leadership.

Assist in training new staff and guide junior cleaners on proper practices.
✅ Asset and Equipment Management

Conduct monthly spot checks on high-value assets and equipment.

Ensure cleaning tools are maintained, serviced, and used correctly.

Report any faulty equipment or unsafe conditions to the site manager.

Maintain daily records and logs regarding asset usage and inventory control.
✅ Health, Safety & Compliance

Uphold all Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations in accordance with company policy.

Address and report maintenance issues, safety risks, or hazards immediately.

Ensure that team members comply with PPE requirements and safe working procedures.

Keep management informed of any safety-related developments at the site.
✅ Communication & Leadership

Liaise regularly with clients and Tsebo management to respond to operational concerns.

Relay important site updates, staff performance concerns, and incident reports.

Encourage open dialogue among team members and resolve conflicts when they arise.

Represent Tsebo in a professional, calm, and solution-focused manner at all times.
Skills and Competencies Required

Solid understanding of professional cleaning standards and processes

Knowledge of company procedures and cleaning methodologies

Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously

Comfortable working long hours, after-hours, and some weekends when needed

High standards for personal hygiene and professional appearance

Sound judgement, with a proactive and problem-solving approach
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this Cleaning Supervisor role, candidates should meet the following criteria:

Grade 12 / Matric Certificate preferred (Grade 11 with relevant experience will also be considered)

At least 2 years of experience in a supervisory role within the commercial cleaning industry

Proven experience in health and safety procedures and compliance
-
Ability to manage teams, meet deadlines, and perform under pressure
