Brights Hardware is recruiting a professional and customer-focused Cashier – Frontline Department to join its Plattekloof branch on a permanent basis in the Western Cape. This associate-level role is ideal for an experienced retail cashier who is accurate, vigilant, and committed to delivering efficient, friendly service in a high-volume retail environment.

The position plays a vital role in maintaining excellent customer satisfaction through accurate transaction handling, strong cash control, and adherence to frontline service standards.


About the Role

The Cashier – Frontline Department is responsible for ensuring smooth and accurate point-of-sale operations. This includes following cash register procedures, processing payments correctly, maintaining security protocols, and providing a welcoming, efficient checkout experience for customers.

Accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure are essential to success in this role.


Key Responsibilities

Customer Service and Frontline Interaction

The successful candidate will greet customers professionally, assist them during checkout, and ensure a positive final impression of the store through friendly and efficient service.


Cash Handling and Register Operations

Responsibilities include following cash-up procedures, checking cash received from customers, processing EFT payments, and ensuring all sales are rung up accurately and efficiently on the register.


Security and Cash Control

The role requires handing over cash drops to a superior for security purposes, remaining vigilant for suspicious behaviour, and adhering strictly to internal cash-handling controls.


Packing and Transaction Completion

The cashier will pack purchased items into shopping bags, issue gift cards, manage customer reward cards, and cash in points accurately.


Daily Cash-Ups and Reporting

The role includes performing daily cash-ups, maintaining accurate transaction records, and supporting perpetual stocktakes when required.


Housekeeping and Operational Support

Maintaining a clean and organised work area is essential. The cashier will also perform additional work-related tasks as delegated by management.


Minimum Requirements

Candidates applying for this role must meet the following requirements:

  • Matric or equivalent qualification

  • Minimum 1 year experience in a similar cashier role

  • Completion of Brights Induction (Service Excellence)

  • Clear credit record

  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills

  • High levels of awareness and vigilance

  • Ability to handle pressure in a busy retail environment

  • Good numerical skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision

  • Exceptional organisational ability and attention to detail

  • Willingness to work flexible hours and holidays as required by the business
