Position Overview

Dis-Chem Pharmacies is recruiting a CCTV Operator for its Longmeadow Distribution Centre in Edenvale. This permanent, entry-level role is responsible for providing professional security surveillance services in line with the Private Security Industry Regulation Act (PSIRA) and Dis-Chem’s internal security policies.

The successful candidate will monitor CCTV systems, detect and respond to security risks, support loss prevention initiatives, and help maintain a safe and secure environment for staff, assets, and property.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and control CCTV surveillance systems across the distribution centre
  • Identify suspicious behaviour, criminal activity, or security breaches and respond accordingly
  • Control access to the premises by regulating pedestrian and vehicle entry points
  • Report damage, unlawful entry, or irregular activities to management immediately
  • Communicate effectively with on-site security guards and emergency responders
  • Maintain constant vigilance during operating hours, including opening and closing procedures
  • Monitor alarm systems and operate emergency detection equipment when required
  • Conduct after-hours surveillance, including patrol coordination and camera monitoring
  • Assist emergency teams during incidents, evacuations, or medical emergencies
  • Maintain order during evacuations and at assembly points
  • Complete occurrence books, registers, and incident reports accurately
  • Support loss prevention strategies to reduce theft, damage, and financial loss
  • Conduct audits and investigations in line with Dis-Chem SOPs and legal requirements
  • Adhere strictly to health, safety, uniform, and company appearance standards

Minimum Requirements

Essential

  • Grade 12 / Matric certificate
  • Grade C PSIRA accreditation
  • 1–3 years’ CCTV control room experience in a warehousing or distribution centre
  • Minimum 1 year CCTV experience in a pharmaceutical warehousing environment
  • Hands-on experience with Hikvision CCTV systems
  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, CCTV systems)

Advantageous

  • 2 or more years’ CCTV experience in pharmaceutical distribution environments
  • Advanced Hikvision system experience
