Position Overview

Nurture Cape View is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Enrolled Nursing Assistant (ENA) to join its clinical rehabilitation team. This entry-level permanent role supports nursing and therapy teams in delivering high-quality care within an acute and sub-acute rehabilitation environment.

Working under the supervision of a Registered or Professional Nurse, the ENA will assist patients with daily living activities, monitor basic clinical observations, and help maintain a safe, dignified, and supportive care environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with activities of daily living, including hygiene, feeding, mobility, positioning, elimination, and pressure care
  • Record vital signs, blood glucose levels, and fluid balance, escalating concerns promptly
  • Support basic wound care, dressings, specimen collection, and delegated procedures (within scope of practice)
  • Prepare beds and wards and maintain infection prevention and control standards (PPE, equipment cleaning)
  • Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges
  • Provide emotional support and orientation to patients and families
  • Accurately document patient care while maintaining privacy and dignity
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team (Nursing, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Social Work)
  • Participate in shift work, weekend duties, and public-holiday rosters as required

Minimum Requirements

Essential

  • Current SANC registration as an Enrolled Nursing Auxiliary (ENA)
  • Completed ENA programme with proof of competency
  • Right to work in South Africa
  • Clear criminal record
  • Physically fit for clinical duties

Advantageous

  • BLS / CPR certification
  • Experience in rehabilitation, sub-acute care, long-term care, or private hospital settings
  • Knowledge of wound care, pressure care, safe patient handling, falls prevention, and IPC standards
  • Basic computer literacy
