Position Overview

The Specialist: Technician – Service will assess, diagnose, and repair vehicle faults while performing services and maintenance according to OEM standards. This role demands high technical competence, precision, and a customer-focused approach to deliver timely and reliable vehicle servicing.

The ideal candidate is a highly skilled automotive technician with excellent diagnostic abilities and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct vehicle test drives to diagnose issues and assess work completed
  • Move frequently between workshop, service advisors, and parts department to prepare accurate repair quotes
  • Communicate repair needs and technical explanations to service advisors and customers
  • Provide precise diagnosis to ensure accurate cost, time, and effort estimates
  • Perform maintenance, repair, and diagnostic tasks as instructed, including overhead or repair bay work
  • Replace oil, lubricate equipment, and inspect, repair, or replace malfunctioning parts
  • Conduct complex repairs such as gearbox, engine, or brake replacement as needed
  • Use diagnostic equipment accurately for troubleshooting and repair
  • Comply with OEM and warranty requirements for all maintenance and repair work
  • Identify cost-effective remedies to vehicle faults and customer complaints
  • Maintain vehicle service standards within targeted manufacturer timeframes
  • Ensure vehicles are returned in a clean, safe, and presentable condition
  • Complete legible, accurate paperwork, including job cards and service reports
  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior mechanics
  • Maintain clear communication with colleagues, customers, and service providers
  • Keep the workshop clean, safe, and compliant with health and safety regulations
  • Successfully complete all required OEM and industry-specific training

Minimum Requirements

Essential

  • Recognised automotive technical qualification (Nissan OEM training preferred)
  • Previous experience in vehicle diagnostics, servicing, and repairs
  • Strong mechanical and technical troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent understanding of OEM standards, warranty requirements, and safety procedures
  • Clear communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a technical team

Advantageous

  • Previous experience with Nissan vehicles or similar OEM brands
  • Advanced diagnostic tool experience
  • Experience mentoring or guiding junior technicians
