Position Overview

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Junior Structural Engineer to join a growing consulting engineering firm in Somerset West. This permanent role is ideal for an early-career civil or structural engineer looking to gain hands-on experience in building structures, design coordination, and engineering consultancy work.

The successful candidate will work closely with senior engineers, contribute to structural design processes, and gain exposure to multiple building types within a professional consulting environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with structural design and analysis for building projects
  • Prepare and update drawings using AutoCAD or similar CAD software
  • Support senior engineers with project documentation and design coordination
  • Assist with structural calculations and design checks
  • Participate in site inspections and project meetings when required
  • Ensure compliance with engineering standards, regulations, and best practices

Minimum Requirements

  • BEng Civil Engineering or BTech Civil Engineering qualification
  • Experience using AutoCAD or similar CAD software
  • Exposure to different building types and structural systems
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Own reliable transport

Advantageous Skills & Experience

  • Experience with Revit (Building Information Modelling)
  • Knowledge of Prokon structural analysis software
  • Previous exposure to consulting engineering environments
  • Strong interest in building structures and design
