Position Overview

An exciting opportunity exists for a detail-oriented and commercially savvy Construction Buyer to join a dynamic construction team.

The successful candidate will manage procurement for materials, plant, and services, ensuring project timelines are met while achieving cost efficiencies and maintaining supplier relationships. This is a critical role for ensuring smooth operations on construction sites.


Key Responsibilities

  • Procure construction materials, plant, and services in line with project requirements
  • Source, negotiate, and manage suppliers and subcontractors to secure competitive pricing
  • Maintain strong supplier relationships and ensure timely delivery of materials
  • Prepare, process, and track purchase orders according to project timelines
  • Monitor stock levels and coordinate with site teams to maintain uninterrupted workflow
  • Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and procedures
  • Track costs, support budget control, and implement cost-saving initiatives
  • Maintain accurate procurement records and documentation

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Buyer within the building construction industry
  • Relevant qualification in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Construction Management, or similar
  • Strong knowledge of construction materials, suppliers, and industry networks
  • Proven negotiation, budgeting, and cost management skills
  • Proficient in MS Office and procurement systems
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines
