Position Overview

The Technical Trainer is responsible for designing, delivering, and evaluating technical training programs for Engineering, Maintenance, and other operational employees. This role ensures employees are fully skilled in manufacturing processes, equipment operation, and safety standards while supporting food safety compliance and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose technical training needs to provide proactive and relevant learning solutions
  • Develop technical training programs, SOPs, and Safe Work Procedures (SWPs)
  • Conduct annual training needs assessments and skills matrix evaluations
  • Prepare, deliver, and compile training materials using various media and Microsoft 365 tools
  • Train employees on installation, maintenance, and repair of machinery and equipment
  • Monitor training effectiveness through follow-up evaluations and continuous feedback
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and identify cost-saving opportunities
  • Act as Key 15 champion and deliver Key 9 production training initiatives
  • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure training aligns with audit and compliance standards
  • Maintain records of training budgets and spending
  • Ensure technical training aligns with food safety and production audit requirements

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 / NQF 4
  • Engineering-related or Technical Qualification / Trade (Millwright, Fitter)
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in Learning & Development
  • PRAGMA experience & PRAGMA Training exposure
  • Proven technical training delivery and design record
  • Production/manufacturing plant experience preferred
  • Knowledge of production machinery, processes, and standards
  • Familiarity with Continuous Improvement, Six Sigma, or Lean process principles
  • Computer literate with experience in Microsoft 365 (Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive)
  • Willingness to work overtime when required
