To support this transformation, Media24 is seeking a skilled Video Editor to create engaging video content for Daily Sun’s digital platforms.
Position Overview
The Video Editor will be responsible for producing high-quality video content for Daily Sun’s website, social media platforms, and multimedia storytelling projects.
This role focuses on editing raw footage into polished videos that meet Daily Sun’s editorial standards and align with its digital storytelling strategy. The successful candidate will help strengthen the publication’s presence across video-driven platforms such as social media and mobile news channels.
Key Responsibilities
Video Editing & Production
- Edit raw video footage from multimedia journalists into compelling news and feature stories
- Produce short-form videos for social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and X (Twitter)
- Create video graphics including titles, lower thirds, and branded visual elements
- Enhance audio quality through sound editing, noise reduction, and audio mixing
- Perform colour correction and colour grading to ensure professional visual standards
Multimedia Storytelling
- Collaborate with journalists and editors to develop visual storytelling approaches for news content
- Produce promotional videos for major stories, features, and investigations
- Edit footage from press conferences, live events, and breaking news coverage
- Contribute to special projects including documentaries and feature video stories
- Create motion graphics and animated elements to enhance storytelling impact
Technical Operations
- Maintain video editing equipment, software, and storage systems
- Ensure all video content meets technical specifications for web, mobile, and social platforms
- Archive and organise digital assets using digital asset management systems
- Conduct quality checks on all edited content before publication
- Troubleshoot technical issues in collaboration with IT teams
Team Collaboration
- Work closely with multimedia journalists, photographers, and editors
- Coordinate with the social media team to optimise content for different platforms
- Support live streaming and real-time content production during major news events
- Participate in editorial meetings and propose creative video storytelling ideas
Required Knowledge & Skills
Candidates should possess the following skills:
- Strong understanding of video production workflows from capture to final output
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Audition
- Knowledge of colour grading, audio editing, and post-production techniques
- Familiarity with social media video optimisation strategies
- Understanding of graphic design principles and typography
- Basic knowledge of camera operation and lighting techniques
- Strong visual storytelling and creative problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain quality standards
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced newsroom environment
Minimum Requirements
Applicants should meet the following requirements:
- Certificate or diploma in Video Production, Media Studies, Film/TV Production, or related field
- Alternatively, relevant experience in video editing and multimedia production
- Proficiency in professional editing software such as:
- Adobe Premiere Pro
- Final Cut Pro
- DaVinci Resolve
- Understanding of video compression, file formats, and web optimisation techniques
- 2–3 years of experience in video editing, preferably within news or digital media
- Experience editing content for web, mobile, and social media platforms
- Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines
Additional Preferred Skills
Candidates with the following experience will have an advantage:
- Motion graphics and basic animation skills
- Experience with live streaming and real-time video production
- Knowledge of journalism ethics and media law
- Additional language skills relevant to Daily Sun’s diverse audience
- Experience working with drone footage or 360-degree video technologies
