Position Overview
Dis-Chem is seeking an experienced and customer-focused Cashier for its Pinecrest store in Pinetown. This role is ideal for individuals with experience in retail cashier operations, point-of-sale systems, and customer service excellence.
The successful candidate will be responsible for processing transactions accurately, delivering a world-class shopping experience, and ensuring compliance with company policies and fraud prevention procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service & Sales
- Deliver exceptional customer service at the point of sale
- Build professional relationships with customers
- Stay informed about current promotions and store offers
Cash Handling & Transactions
- Process all transactions including cash, cards, vouchers, and coupons
- Ensure accuracy in all sales, refunds, and payments
- Manage cash flow and ensure funds are safely stored
Store Operations & Compliance
- Adhere to Dis-Chem’s standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Ensure all items are scanned and paid for before leaving the store
- Monitor and report suspicious activity to management
Administration & Reporting
- Handle daily takings confidentially
- Ensure all voids and price changes are properly authorised
- Address customer queries related to merchandise
Loyalty & Rewards Programmes
- Process loyalty cards and partner programmes including:
- Discovery Health
- Momentum Multiply
- ABSA Rewards
- eBucks
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric Certificate
- Minimum of 6 months cashier or till operation experience
- Computer literacy (MS Office)
- Strong numerical and cash-handling skills
- Good command of the English language
- Willingness to work retail hours (including weekends and holidays)
