Job Purpose
The primary purpose of the Sales Clerk (Retail) role is to ensure efficient execution of sales and effective control of stock within the retail environment. Minimum Requirements
Education and Training

Grade 12 (Matric) – essential qualification.
Work Experience

A minimum of 1 year of experience in a direct sales or retail environment.

Previous experience in agricultural retail, hardware, or a similar environment will be advantageous.
Key Performance Areas
As a Sales Clerk, you will perform a wide range of duties to ensure the smooth operation of the retail branch and deliver exceptional customer service.
1. Customer Service and Sales

Provide efficient and friendly service to all walk-in customers at the branch.

Assist clients with inquiries, product selection, and purchasing decisions.

Promote and cross-sell additional products or services to increase sales and enhance customer satisfaction.

Build long-term relationships with customers through excellent communication and reliability.

Ensure that the sales floor is always presentable and that displays are attractive, neat, and well-stocked.
2. Stock Control and Inventory Management

Monitor stock levels regularly to ensure adequate product availability.

Order stock from suppliers or procurement teams as needed to maintain proper inventory levels.

Receive stock from the receiving department and verify quantities and pricing.

Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly stock counts to ensure accuracy and prevent stock discrepancies.

Maintain proper documentation for all stock movements and returns.

Ensure that all stock areas are well-organized, labeled, and compliant with company standards.
3. Retail Operations

Adhere to company sales policies, procedures, and cash handling guidelines.

Ensure that all transactions are processed accurately and efficiently.

Assist with pricing updates, shelf labeling, and promotions to maintain competitive market positioning.

Support management with stock audits and compliance checks.

Report stock shortages, damages, or product issues promptly to the Store Manager.
Technical Knowledge and Competencies
