We are currently seeking a Cash Consultant to join our De Aar branch team. This role is ideal for individuals with a keen understanding of cash handling procedures, branch operations, and customer service excellence.


Job Purpose

The Cash Consultant is responsible for attending to all cash-related matters within the branch, including walk-in customers and ATM services. The role requires forming an accurate assessment and understanding of cash demands in order to act effectively and consistently.

The Cash Consultant plays a vital role in ensuring a seamless client experience, adhering to Standard Bank’s policies and procedures, and maintaining compliance with relevant legal and operational standards.


Key Responsibilities

1. Cash Handling and Operations

  • Process all cash transactions accurately and efficiently for walk-in customers.

  • Monitor, maintain, and service ATMs in line with the bank’s operational requirements.

  • Assess cash demands proactively and ensure sufficient cash availability for branch operations.

  • Manage bulk cash deposits, withdrawals, and reconciliations in accordance with internal policies.

  • Ensure adherence to all legal requirements and banking regulations regarding cash handling.

2. Customer Service Excellence

  • Provide exceptional service to clients at the branch, ensuring a professional and friendly experience.

  • Address client queries related to cash transactions, ATMs, and other branch services.

  • Identify opportunities to inform clients about additional banking products and services.

  • Maintain confidentiality and integrity when dealing with client information and transactions.

3. Branch Collaboration

  • Liaise effectively with other branch departments to ensure smooth cash flow and operational efficiency.

  • Understand the functions of various branch teams and coordinate effectively to support overall branch performance.

  • Assist colleagues during peak periods or when handling complex cash-related issues.

4. Compliance and Risk Management

  • Follow all branch procedures and internal controls to prevent errors, fraud, or discrepancies.

  • Adhere to regulatory requirements and banking industry standards.

  • Complete necessary documentation accurately, including reconciliations, cash audits, and reporting.

5. Process Improvement

  • Identify and recommend improvements to cash handling processes for efficiency and risk mitigation.

  • Participate in training sessions to enhance skills in cash management and branch operations.

  • Stay updated on changes in banking policies, procedures, and cash-related regulations.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: NQF Level 5 qualification or equivalent, preferably in Banking, Finance, or related fields.

  • Experience:

    • 1–2 years of experience in branch banking, including frontline support and cash handling.

    • Familiarity with the bank’s policies and procedures related to cash operations, ATMs, and bulk cash management.

    • Understanding of legal and regulatory requirements regarding cash handling.

  • Application & Submission Verification (Business Banking): Ensure accurate processing of business banking transactions.

  • Banking Process & Procedures: Comprehensive knowledge of branch operational policies.

  • Customer Acceptance & Review (Consumer Banking): Conduct proper verification and documentation for client accounts.

  • Customer Understanding & Product Knowledge (Consumer Banking): Ability to advise clients accurately on cash-related services and other bank products.

  • Processing: Efficiently process cash transactions, reconciliations, and ATM operations.
