About the Role
The Artisan Electrical will be responsible for executing timeous, high-quality electrical maintenance in line with the company’s maintenance strategy and client service level agreements. The role covers the full hard FM electrical maintenance spectrum, including planned preventative maintenance, reactive repairs, fault finding, and minor building works.
The successful candidate will work closely with supervisors, the business control centre, and clients to ensure safe operations, minimal downtime, and compliance with all relevant legislation and standards.
Key Responsibilities
Planned, Preventative, and Reactive Electrical Maintenance
The Artisan Electrical will report for on-site maintenance duties, complete job cards accurately, and obtain off-site check-out approvals as required. Responsibilities include performing planned and emergency electrical maintenance, ensuring all work complies with job plans, SLAs, and statutory requirements. The role requires conducting scheduled maintenance on electrical installations and responding efficiently to breakdowns and emergency faults.
Electrical Systems and Equipment Support
This position involves hands-on work across electrical installations, including air circuit breakers and PLC systems. The artisan will liaise with the business control centre regarding maintenance activities and alarm activations, clear and test alarms after maintenance, and ensure systems are fully functional before handover. Identifying potential hazards or risks on client equipment and escalating them for investigation and resolution is a key part of the role.
Quality Control, Safety, and Compliance
The role demands strict adherence to the Occupational Health and Safety Act, electrical regulations, and company procedures. The Artisan Electrical must ensure high-quality workmanship, complete tasks within agreed timeframes, and provide continuous feedback to supervisors and clients regarding progress and restoration of services.
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

N3 – N6 qualification in Electrical Engineering with a Trade Test

Matric (Senior Certificate)

Valid South African Driver’s Licence

Valid Wireman’s Licence

Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience in electrical engineering maintenance

Practical experience working with air breakers and PLCs

Knowledge of the OHS Act

Computer literacy: MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook (Intermediate)

SAP knowledge (advantageous)
