About the Role
RPO Recruitment is seeking a Professionally Registered Electrical Engineer (Pr.Eng) to join a multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy based in Cape Town. This role is within the MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) Engineering Department and involves leading the design of electrical systems across residential, commercial, retail, and hospitality projects.
The successful candidate will bring technical leadership, project management skills, and hands-on design expertise, contributing to high-quality engineering solutions for a variety of clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead electrical design projects from concept to completion
- Develop detailed electrical system designs for single and multi-unit residential buildings, hospitality projects, and commercial/retail spaces
- Provide technical guidance and leadership to the electrical engineering team
- Manage client relationships and ensure project deliverables meet requirements
- Review and approve technical drawings and specifications
- Ensure compliance with local codes, standards, and best practices
- Coordinate with other disciplines within multi-disciplinary projects
- Mentor and support junior engineers within the team
Minimum Requirements
- BSc or B.Eng degree in Electrical Engineering
- Professionally registered as Pr.Eng with ECSA (essential)
- 10+ years’ experience in electrical engineering design and consultancy
- Proven experience in design and detailing of electrical systems across residential, hospitality, commercial, and retail sectors
- Strong project management and client relationship skills
- Valid driver’s license and own reliable transport
- Ability to lead technical teams and provide mentorship
