homechoice is hiring a Head of Credit Risk: Credit Risk and Collections Strategy to lead its credit risk function. This is a senior leadership role focused on credit strategy, collections optimisation, analytics, and IFRS 9 governance across a large retail credit portfolio.

About the Head of Credit Risk Role

This role is responsible for end-to-end credit risk strategy and collections optimisation, including credit policy development, forecasting, risk modelling oversight, and leadership of analytical teams.

You will work closely with finance, credit operations, and executive leadership to improve portfolio performance, reduce debtor costs, and strengthen risk governance.


Key Responsibilities

Credit Risk Strategy & Policy

  • Oversee credit risk assessment processes and underwriting frameworks
  • Design and implement credit risk policies and scoring systems
  • Manage end-to-end credit lifecycle risk workflows
  • Ensure alignment with business and regulatory requirements

Collections & Recoveries Strategy

  • Lead collections optimisation strategies to improve recovery rates
  • Reduce debtor costs and improve cash flow performance
  • Work with Credit Operations to execute and refine strategies
  • Improve customer account performance through data-driven insights

Analytics, Modelling & Forecasting

  • Design and maintain reporting tools (e.g. Power BI dashboards)
  • Use advanced analytics (SAS, SQL) for forecasting and insights
  • Lead IFRS 9 provisioning models and receivables forecasting
  • Provide executive-level reporting and credit committee presentations

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead a team of analysts and credit risk professionals
  • Build capability within the credit risk function
  • Drive performance, accountability, and innovation
  • Mentor and develop high-performing talent

Governance, Compliance & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Engage with auditors, regulators, and senior stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with IFRS 9 and credit governance frameworks
  • Monitor fraud risk indicators and early warning systems
  • Present insights to executive committees and forums

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, or related numerate field
  • Honours degree (advantageous)

Experience

  • 8+ years’ experience in credit risk, collections, or recoveries
  • Experience in retail credit, banking, fintech, or financial services
  • Proven leadership experience managing analytical or risk teams
  • Strong exposure to credit modelling and strategy development
