As the Commercial Manager for BFM Operations 2, you will serve as a vital link between operational execution, financial management, and client contract performance. Your role encompasses managing operational budgets and management accounts, optimizing resource scheduling, overseeing inventory principles in distribution facilities, driving commercial revenue growth, negotiating high-value service level agreements (SLAs), and maintaining strong client partnerships.

Key Performance Areas & Primary Responsibilities

1. Financial Control, Budgeting & Management Accounts
  • Provide high-level financial support to Bidvest Facilities Management Operations, taking accountability for management accounts, internal budget tracking, and external financial reporting.
  • Monitor operational expenditure and conduct detailed expense analyses to pinpoint cost-reduction opportunities and implement strategic efficiency measures.
  • Analyze critical business metrics, including revenue growth, customer acquisition costs, churn rates, and customer lifetime value to optimize bottom-line performance.
2. Commercial Growth, Contract Governance & Client Relations
  • Facilitate strategic contract negotiations for new business, securing optimal commercial terms, pricing frameworks, and delivery conditions aligned with growth goals.
  • Administer existing customer contracts and SLAs, ensuring strict compliance with key performance indicators (KPIs), timely renewals, and proactive resolution of client disputes.
  • Analyze telecommunications market trends, customer usage patterns, and competitor pricing to develop data-driven sales and growth strategies.
  • Maintain strong, transparent client relationships built on trust, clear communication, and value proposition delivery.
3. Operational Resource Planning & Inventory Management
  • Manage the planning and scheduling of all operational resources to ensure maintenance work is executed strictly according to engineering standards and client SLAs.
  • Drive optimal stock levels and inventory management principles across distribution facilities to ensure cost-effective operational delivery.
  • Leverage automated maintenance systems (SAP) to streamline workflows, optimize supply chain logistics, and maintain integrated management system (IMS) standards.

Minimum Requirements – Commercial Manager

Educational Qualifications & Certifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree or National Diploma in Construction Management, Financial Management, Business Management, or Sales and Marketing Management (Essential).
  • Schooling: Grade 12 / Matric Certificate (Essential).
  • Licence: Valid Code 8 Driver’s Licence (Essential).
  • Certifications & Training: IMS (Integrated Management System), First Aid Training, and Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act knowledge.
Work Experience & Technical Competencies
  • Management Experience: Minimum of 5 years in a management role with demonstrated exposure to resource planning, scheduling, and financial management (Essential).
  • Industry Domain Knowledge: Deep expertise in the telecommunications sector, including current market dynamics, emerging technologies, and regulatory landscapes.
  • Systems Exposure: Practical exposure to SAP Maintenance Management System or any automated computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) is highly advantageous.
  • Software Proficiency: Intermediate to advanced MS Office skills (proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access).
  • Core Principles: Strong working knowledge of project management, inventory management, asset management, and SLA administration.
