About the Maintenance Manager Role

The Maintenance Manager will oversee all maintenance operations across Pedros restaurants, Distribution Centres, and support facilities. The successful candidate will ensure that buildings, technical systems, refrigeration, HVAC, generators, electrical infrastructure, kitchen equipment, and security systems remain fully operational and compliant.

This role requires a hands-on leader with strong technical expertise, preventative maintenance experience, contractor management skills, and the ability to support a fast-growing QSR business.


Key Responsibilities

Maintenance Operations Management

  • Lead the full maintenance division across all Pedros sites
  • Manage technicians, coordinators, and outsourced contractors
  • Ensure all stores and facilities remain operational and customer-ready
  • Support operational continuity and minimize downtime

Preventative Maintenance & Asset Management

  • Design and implement preventative maintenance programs
  • Maintain and manage the company asset register
  • Operate structured maintenance tracking and job card systems
  • Conduct maintenance audits across stores and DCs

Technical Infrastructure Oversight

  • Oversee refrigeration, HVAC, electrical systems, generators, and security systems
  • Manage maintenance of kitchen equipment and distribution centre infrastructure
  • Ensure technical compliance and safety standards are maintained

Supplier & Contractor Management

  • Source, approve, and manage suppliers and service providers
  • Manage service level agreements (SLAs)
  • Monitor contractor performance and maintenance quality
  • Ensure cost-effective maintenance solutions

Budgeting & Compliance

  • Manage maintenance budgets, CAPEX, and OPEX expenditure
  • Monitor costs and report budget variances
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and food safety regulations
  • Support statutory and operational compliance standards

Project & Store Expansion Support

  • Support new store openings, revamps, and relocations
  • Coordinate technical maintenance during expansion projects
  • Assist operational teams with technical guidance and support

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 / Matric
  • National Diploma or qualification in:
    • Electrical Engineering
    • Mechanical Engineering
    • Facilities Management
    • Related technical field
  • Trade qualification (advantageous)
  • Project Management qualification (advantageous)
  • Health & Safety training (advantageous)

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years’ maintenance management experience
  • Multi-site maintenance management experience
  • Experience within:
    • QSR
    • Hospitality
    • FMCG
    • Distribution
    • Retail environments
  • Proven preventative maintenance management experience
  • Strong contractor and supplier management background
  • Experience leading technical teams
