Job Overview

Brights Hardware is seeking a Cashier to join their Frontline Department on a 4-month fixed-term contract. The ideal candidate will be responsible for processing transactions, handling cash and EFT payments, assisting customers, and maintaining a high standard of service excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Greet Customers – Welcome and assist customers upon entry.
Process Payments – Ring up purchases and accept cash, EFT, and card payments.
Cash Handling – Follow cash-up procedures, check cash received, and conduct daily reconciliations.
Customer Service – Provide friendly and efficient service, ensuring customer satisfaction.
Promotions & Rewards – Be knowledgeable about promotional products, gift cards, and customer reward programs.
Security Awareness – Stay alert to suspicious activities and ensure secure handling of cash drops.
Work Area Maintenance – Keep the cashier station and surrounding area clean and organized.
Stock Management – Participate in perpetual stock takes and maintain accuracy in transactions.
Team Collaboration – Work with colleagues to ensure smooth store operations.

Job Requirements

Education & Experience:
Matric (or equivalent) qualification required.
Minimum 1 year of experience as a cashier in a retail environment.
✔ Previous experience with point-of-sale (POS) systems is an advantage.
Skills & Abilities:
Excellent customer service & interpersonal skills.
✔ Strong numerical and cash-handling skills.
✔ Ability to multi-task, work under pressure, and handle high transaction volumes.
Attention to detail and accuracy in processing transactions.
✔ Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Awareness & vigilance to prevent fraud or theft.
Good organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
Other Requirements:
Clear credit score and no criminal record.
Willingness to work flexible hours, weekends, and public holidays as per business needs.
