Role Overview
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking Security Guards to provide security services in compliance with the Private Security Industry Regulations Act (PSIRA). The role requires maintaining a safe and secure environment, identifying criminal activities, investigating disturbances, and ensuring the safety of assets, property, and staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Patrols and Surveillance: Conduct regular patrols of the premises to ensure visibility and reduce risks.
- Access Control: Monitor and regulate access, ensuring only authorized individuals enter.
- Incident Reporting: Report any damages, unlawful entry, suspicious activities, or safety hazards promptly.
- Security and Safety Measures: Enforce rules to prevent theft, damage, and injury, and assist in emergency situations.
- Monitoring: Operate alarm systems and security cameras, and ensure proper vehicle and personnel searches.
- Emergency Response: Provide assistance to emergency teams and maintain order during evacuation procedures.
- Customer Relations: Offer a professional and friendly service to customers, staff, and guests.
- Documentation: Complete registers, occurrence books, and reports related to security events.
- Crisis Management: Respond quickly to crises, following industry and company procedures.
Minimum Requirements
- Education: Grade 12 (Matric) or Senior Certificate.
- PSIRA Accreditation: Grade C PSIRA.
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of exposure in the retail industry (shopping malls, warehouses).
- Advantageous: At least 1 year of specific experience in a similar role.
Skills & Competencies
- PSIRA Knowledge: Understanding of the security industry regulations.
- Emergency & Safety Training: Fire emergency and Health & Safety exposure.
- Communication: Strong proficiency in English (reading, writing, and speaking).
- Additional Languages: Knowledge of a third language is advantageous.
Special Conditions of Employment
- PSIRA Registration: Must be registered with PSIRA.
- Clear Background: MIE, clear criminal and credit checks.
- Transportation: Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable transport, and a PDP if deployed as a driver.
- Citizenship: South African Citizen.
