Job Overview

Minimum Requirements

Educational Qualifications

  • A Grade 12 / Matric certificate is required.

Work Experience

  • A minimum of one year of experience in a direct sales environment, preferably within the retail sector.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

Customer Service and Sales Support

  • Provide high-quality customer service to all walk-in clients at the branch.
  • Engage with customers to understand their needs and provide expert product recommendations.
  • Identify upselling and cross-selling opportunities by recommending additional products to enhance the customer experience.
  • Assist customers in locating products, providing detailed information on features and benefits.
  • Process sales transactions efficiently and accurately, ensuring a smooth checkout process.
  • Address and resolve customer queries and complaints in a professional manner.

Stock Control and Inventory Management

  • Monitor stock levels and ensure timely replenishment of inventory from suppliers or procurement teams.
  • Receive, inspect, and verify stock deliveries to ensure accurate counts and correct pricing.
  • Conduct routine stock counts on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis to prevent discrepancies.
  • Ensure proper stock storage and handling to minimize loss, breakages, or damages.
  • Implement effective inventory control measures to reduce shrinkage and wastage.

Product Knowledge and Retail Operations

  • Stay updated on AFGRI Retail’s product range, ensuring comprehensive knowledge of all available items.
  • Understand and adhere to store policies, procedures, and operational guidelines.
  • Maintain proper pricing, labeling, and merchandising of products for optimal visibility.
  • Provide insights on customer preferences and market trends to assist in inventory decisions.
  • Ensure that all products, especially firearms and ammunition, are handled in compliance with safety regulations and legal requirements.

Required Skills and Competencies

Technical Knowledge and Competencies

  • Good knowledge of AFGRI Retail’s product range, including agricultural, household, and firearm-related products.
  • Computer literacy, including proficiency in sales and inventory management software.
  • Strong understanding of customer service principles and sales techniques.
  • Familiarity with firearms and ammunition is advantageous.
  • Ability to perform basic financial calculations related to pricing, discounts, and stock valuation.
